Two shows TONIGHT!

(Post done by our Producer Lauren “Lightning Bolt” Magistro)

I hope you have you seat belt strapped on tight for this one, because it’s going to be a wild ride! We’ve got a LIVE! from the Future first coming up next Tuesday, June 30: TWO EPISODES IN ONE NIGHT!

First up we’ve got the very funny Jordan Peele of MADtv! New York native, Jordan Peele, recently ended his 5 year role as a cast member on the sketch comedy show, MADtv. During his time on the show Jordan became one of the primary contributing writers and enjoyed the freedom to use his imagination. He also did a number of side projects: a movie with Ike and Dave Chappelle (which unfortunately was never released), a cameo in the Weird Al Yankovic video “White and Nerdy,” and even a guest appearance on “Celebrity Poker Showdown” with fellow “MADtv” cast member Keegan-Michael Key. To this day, Jordan still gets a kick out of people who recognize him as “that guy from ‘MADtv’” or “that guy from the Weird Al video.”

Stuart Paap will also welcome up-and-coming actress, Jessica Griffin! She’s got some great stories to share with the audience, quite possibly involving Bruce Springsteen, a Hip-Hop dance lesson, and some Shakespeare. Don’t want to give too much away though…

On Episode 2, which will start at 12am EST // 9pm PST, we’ve got, drumroll please….. SNL’s newest cast member, Michaela Watkins!! Michaela Watkins was born in Syracuse, NY and raised in Boston. She’s an alum of The Groundlings in Los Angeles. She has also appeared on CBS’ sitcom “” for a three-episode arc, playing the patient/girlfriend of Matthew Kimble, played by Hamish Linklater. Michaela is very excited about her new job as a cast member on NBC’s Saturday Night Live and we are so excited to welcome her!

Jessie Schneiderpants will be on vacation, but we’ve got the exciting Andrea Ball filling in on the IM desk! Andrea is a staff writer for VidOpp and Tubefilter. She started her own company Lux New Media, where she produces her own web series.

This is going to be an epically funny night on Live From the Future! We are brimming with comedic talent, it might be too funny. Make sure you’ve got your diaper on because you might just pee a little.

Drop your questions on the message board for any of our THREE lovely guests!

Schneiderpants

Meet Jessie, your IM girl!

Jessie “Schneiderpants” Schneiderman is the sassy, spunkilicous co-host/IM girl for LIVE! From the future… with Stuart Paap!  Born and raised in Washington, DC, Jessie graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and moved to Los Angeles three years ago to be a comedienne.  She has trained at The Groundlings, Upright Citizens Brigade, Second City and I.O. West, and has performed all over the country.  Jessie does stand-up comedy, improv, hosting and voice over.  She is currently a member of the sketch comedy company Straightjacket Society” and is pretty much just totally hilarious.  All of the time.

Rooftalk

The First Installment

Rooftalk3In an effort to get some laid back fun interviews with show guests and behind the scenes regulars, we have created a series we’re calling Rooftalk. Rooftalk is still evolving, but we’ve scouted out a great location on the roof of the studio. We stealthily sneak up there after the show on Tuesdays for some great interviews in an awesome setting amongst the city lights.

This first post is rather experimental, but Stuart interviewed me, Lauren “Lighting Bolt” Magistro, about how I got into new media and how my experience producing Live! From the Future was going so far:

Rooftalk would not be possible without Lawrence, the talented filmmaker behind The Indian Maiden, who happily hauls out his lights and camera to capture some cool stuff! Thanks Lawrence!

John Fulron

John Fulron… A man for all seasons! Except winter.

John Fulron was born John Dawson Fulton in northern Mass. His life changed two years ago when a Kinko’s employee misspelled his name and he became John Fulron. In Feb. 2007, John was a guest on LIVE! From the future… with Stuart Paap! and was asked to become a permanent member of the team.

John’s turnons include alfredo, running and smoking and turnoffs are when Paap calls more than twice a day.

Check him out at Facebook and Twitter.  Or don’t.

Stu's News

About Stuart and the show… yo.

After performing stand up comedy for a few years, Stuart co-created LIVE! From the future… with Stuart Paap! alongside Founder/CEO of TheStream.TV, Brian Gramo. The show began in Brian’s apartment bedroom on September 26th 2006 with 3 cameras, a shitty backdrop, two mics, one desk and a very willing guest – my good friend, Zach Pollard. 110 episodes later, the guys have upgraded studios twice, and along the way, picked up Jessie Schneiderman on Instant Messages and John Fulron on guitar. The three comedians create a weekly show that is LIVE and interactive dementia! LIVE! From the future… with Stuart Paap!

In addition to stand up, Stuart also hosts a YouTube series I LOVE LA!, has hosted AMC’s Date Night, Biggy TV, AXSP Sportsnight and has done voice over work for movies, commercials, documentaries and appeared in commercials. His stage appearances include the Hollywood, Irvine, Ontario, and Tempe Improvs, the Comedy Underground in Seatlle, Gotham Comedy Club in New York City, the Comedy Connection in Boston, and the Comedy Studio in Cambridge.

Missed Kevin G. Schmidt and Kelly Stables?

LIVE! From the Future…with Stuart Paap!

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009!

From the webseries Poor Paul, actor and co-creator Kevin G Schmidt!

And from the horror web series Soul Fire Rising, actor and producer Kelly Stables!

Watch This Double Stuffed episode on www.theStream.tv

Kids – what a great show! We triple-strapped on our adult diapers and got right to the party! First up, we played a twist on an old classic chatroom game. It was You Supply the Setup! (See what we did there?) But things went a little more awkwardly than planned. Thanks chatroom! At least Jessie was back and looking buff from the bar method. I guess cutting out blow and booze does make a difference in your health… amazing.

(Jessie shows of her guns and sweet smile! Love you Schneiderpants!!!)

Then, Kevin G. Schmidt came on the show to discuss his funny and clever web series Poor Paul (Season 2 just released), which is about 3 roommates trying to co-exist. Check it out at PoorPaul.com or at Koldcast.TV

Kevin got his start in the business at age 10 and has been working ever since. He was in Cheaper by the Dozen, currently works on the Young and the Restless and is in the new Chipmunks movie which comes out around Christmas. Then we played a game called: He’s the Schmidt! where Kevin had to guess which other (much less) successful Kevin Schmidts were which. (It’ll make sense if you watch).

(Kevin and Stuart take quick power-naps in the middle of the show.)

Next up was the lovely and vivacious Kelly Stables. We talked about her impressive web series called Soul Fire Rising… She plays a winger in the series, which is a guardian angel, but things don’t go as planned. In the show she gets to hold a flaming blade of death, fight demons and even fly. Hey, I want that job!

(”No Stuart, I don’t want to play Bingo right now… we’re doing an interview.”)

Kelly also talked about her new Christmas movie on ABC Family, her extensive voiceover work, and what is what like to kiss Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men. Most importantly, we learn how to convince any woman to take her shirt off… it has something to do with wearing an earpiece.

Jack Stehlin from WEEDS!

LIVE! From the Future…with Stuart Paap!

From Showtimes’s WEEDS, actor Jack Stehlin!

Watch this episode on www.theStream.tv

Mr. DEA himself (with a secret) Captain Roy Till aka Jack Stehlin was our guest on Tuesday, June 16th at 8PM on TheStream.TV. Contrary to his character, Jack was laid back, fun and might have even partaken in some “herbal arts” before the show (I’m kidding, he got high after the show. Again, kidding. He got both of us high after the show. Ok, I’m done now. *Jack Stehlin doens’t do drugs and neither do I – Oxycontin isn’t a drug, right?)

(”See Stu, when you massage, start with the shoulders, then work your way down to the ass. Not the other way”.)

We learned a lot this show: That John Fulton is threatening to leave the show (something to do with cats?), how I met Brian on Craigslist, that I believe in marriage for all, legalizing prostitution and (spoiler alert) everybody gets one legal murder per lifetime… who’s with me? Sadly, Jessie Schneiderman’s car broke down, but @JesV did a great job as our IM GIRL!

Lots of bits this show: Some interactive chat-room fun with If I were President, a show-n-tell bit Street Trash with Stu (sex, drugs and polar bears), and John phones it in with six semi-original songs. I got three words for you: John Cougar Mellencamp.

(Johnny “Cougar” Fulron warms up his pipes…)

Then it was time for our featured guest Mr. Jack Stehlin (pronounced Stay-lin). Jack was 100% game for everything – just about the coolest guy I’ve met in a while (sorry Carrot Top). He talked about his Serpico moment, playing college baseball, having a Great-Grandfather in the Circus, working with Al Pacino and obviously putting on a wig, getting naked in a cabinet and yelling on stage (You too? We have so much in common!)

(Jack Stehlin and Stuart Paap discuss acting, Showtimes WEEDS and Tibetan pan flauting.)

We played a game with Jack: Weed Shop or Stoner Band? (listen for John’s killer theme music, courtesy of the Mr. Zany’s Taco Shack in Orlando, Florida), checked in with Wikipedia to see if all the facts written about Jack were true in a segment called WIKI-TTY-FACT!, and last but not least, Jack taught the audience his patented: Jack Stehlin “Slow Burn” Technique!

(Stu prays for good questions while Jack contemplates which chatroom is the most coherent.)

What are you waiting for? Click it and watch…

Weed’s Actor Jack Stehlin is Coming

We are so excited to have Jack Stehlin of Weeds join us on Live! From the Future next Tuesday, June 16th!

LW1C0551 In Weeds, Showtime’s hit comedy series about a single mother who makes ends meet by selling marijuana, veteran actor Jack Stehlin co-stars alongside Mary Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins and Kevin Nealon as “Captain Roy Till” of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). A role that originated as one scene during Season 2 quickly evolved into a fully realized, dangerous, yet humorously sardonic law man out for revenge. We have now come to discover that Till harbors secrets of his own – his sexuality. Stehlin shared a 2009 Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) nomination for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series” and is currently shooting Season 5, which recently premiered on Showtime.

You might be surprised to learn that Stehlin is a descendent of circus trapeze artists, jugglers, and acrobats on one side of his family, and coal miners and minor league ball players on the other side! We will surely have fun with that!

Stehlin began his early career at New York’s Juilliard School, landing a role in Henry VI, Part I with fellow alums Kevin Spacey, and Val Kilmer. In 1983 he founded his own theatre company, Circus Theatricals. He and his wife have produced more than 50 plays in NYC and LA.

Stehlin has guest-starred on countless hit TV series such as Without a Trace, Monk, NCIS., ER, and NYPD Blue. He has also had memorable recurring roles in fan favorites: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, JAG and The Practice.

Check out Stehlin’s interview with TV Guide:

If you’ve got burning questions for Jack Stehlin, post them on the Message Board.
